Dr. Ockie Persson

ER, Family Medicine

Dr. Ockie Persson and his wife Diana are moving to British Columbia.  His last day at Agassiz Medical Centre will be March 10th, 2020.  We wish them all the best!

Dr. Persson was born in Durban, South Africa and spent his childhood in rural South Africa.  He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with his medical degree in 1989.  In 1991 he came to Canada for a year to do various locums in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.  He returned to South Africa in 1992 where he worked in family practice.  In 1995 he completed post graduate training in Occupational Health and worked in the industrial medicine on a part time basis for 5 years.  He and his family then moved to Morden, where he has been practicing as a Family Physician ever since.  During this time he has also served as Chief of Staff at BTHC and been on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba Council for more than 10 years.

Why Morden

Morden has been our home since 2000, where we have had the privilege of raising our two children in the safety of rural life.  As a family we have enjoyed the extensive cultural opportunities as well as enjoying the Canadian outdoors with its array of summer and winter activities.  Our two children have long since left home and are now well established in their careers.  My daughter has blessed us with a grand daughter.  I my spare time I enjoy wood-working and dabble with various creative projects.  Diana, my wife, and I enjoy gardening, feeding birds and generally appreciating the quiet, wide open spaces of the Prairies, which we have called Home for the last 2 decades.
